19-Jan-20 (John 1:35-42)
When Jesus was asked a question that showed the people who asked it were interested in knowing more about him, he simply replied, "Come and see."
There are a number of ways that we can see more of and understand more of Jesus and one of them is before us right now.
Here at the table, we see the symbols of bread and cup that remind us that Jesus was willing to give his own life in his service to God and to others. Through that freely-given life, he broke the chains that sin and death held us in, freeing us to be able to live lives like his, of service to God and others.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of grace, we thank you for the gift of Jesus, who taught us how to live and gave his life that we might live abundantly. We thank you for these symbols of his sacrifice for us.
As we take the bread and cup, renew your Spirit within us that we can live our lives as Jesus did, fully given for you and for others.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
