30-Jan-22 (Luke 4:21-30)
Jesus had to break it to his home congregation that the realm of God wasn't only for them; not for just an inside group. That's always been true and it's still true today. As we gather around the table, we should not only remember that this isn't just for us, but for all. We should also think on how we can be a part of bringing the realm of God, in word and deed, to those around us who are still needing to hear and to see it.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who loves all, we thank you that your realm is not defined by our prejudices and selfishness. We thank you that Jesus did not act selfishly, but gave himself for us all. As we remember that by taking up these symbols of bread and cup, remembering his body and blood given for our sake, let us also take up his task of bringing your realm into this world.
In the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.
