13-Feb-22 (Jeremiah 17:5-10)
Jeremiah talks about a tree planted by the water in the verses for today. He says that this tree is full of life and never ceases to bear fruit. As difficult as it may be to think so, he's talking about us -- us when we're connected to the life-giving stream of God's love and grace.
Gathering here at the table is one of the ways we connect to that stream. We gather with others who seek to live out God's call on us. We remember Jesus who gave his life to show us the depth of God's love. We are fed and nourished by the symbols of our faith. So come, drink, and be filled.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God whose love and grace nourish us and strengthen us so that we can go into the world sharing that grace with others, we thank you that Jesus came to show us this way. We thank you that he showed us the depth of your love in all he did, even to going to the cross. We thank you for these symbols that remind us of that ever-flowing love.
As we take this bread and cup, renew us, fill us, enable us to be your presence in our world.
In the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.
