Table Meditation (Gospel) for Epiphany 2b – 14-January-24
14-Jan-24 (John 1:43-51)
The gospel story for today tells about Philip bringing his brother Nathaniel to meet Jesus. As we come to the Table, remember that the invitation that Philip brought to Nathaniel extends to us all, for we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus is our host at the Table and everyone here is welcome.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God, who calls each and every one of us, "child," we thank you for your gracious invitation to come to you right now. We thank you for these symbols; the bread that reminds us that you were broken to allow us to be made whole, and the cup that reminds us that your blood was poured out so that we could be filled. As we take this bread and cup together, let us remember all your brothers and sisters and commit ourselves to extending the invitation to them as well.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
