Table Meditation (Gospel) for Palm/Passion Sunday 2-Apr-23
2-Apr-22 (Matthew 26 & 27)
Meditation:
Did you ever notice that all of the twelve were there at the Last Supper? What I mean to point out is that even Judas, the betrayer, was there. Clearly Jesus knew what Judas had planned and yet, here he is, welcome at the Table with all the rest. What's up with that?
I'd like to think that Jesus wanted to make it clear from the very beginning that everyone is welcome at the Table. If Jesus could welcome even Judas to the Table, then certainly, we could welcome all those folks that we think might not belong here. Yes, even them.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of us all,
We thank you for your wide-open welcome to this Table of grace. We thank you that you didn't pick and choose who could come any more than you chose who would be redeemed by your sacrifice. We thank you for these symbols of bread and cup, representing your body and blood, given for all. Open our hearts and minds to all of your children as we take of this holy meal.
AMEN.
In the Name of Jesus, the Christ, AMEN.
