27-Feb-22 (Luke 9:28-43)

In our gospel story today, we have Jesus' transfiguration. Of all the things that can be said about this, the one that seems the most important is that this event was meant to prepare the disciples for what came next. The event on the mountain was to prepare them for what was about to happen after they'd returned to the people who needed God's presence.
The same can be said about our experiences with our Lord and host at this table. We come to the table to remember our Lord and to remember our calling to be God's presence in our world. Then we go from the table into our world to be that presence.
Let's pray about that.

Prayer:

God who gave us your son to show us the way to love you and love others, let us indeed remember you and, in that remembering, and in the taking of these symbols of your grace, be strengthened and prepared to be your people in the world. Help us to be more like you.
