11-Sep-22 (Luke 15:1-10)
This week's gospel reading is all about finding lost things and, of course, we all recognize that the way the sheep, and coins, and brother are sought is the way God seeks each of us: tirelessly and without fail.
As we come to the table today, let us consider how great God's love is for each of us and commit again to reach out to others with that same love.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God whose love for us is shown so clearly in the words and especially the actions of Jesus, we thank you that we have both the assurance of that love through him and that great example of how we should treat all others. We thank you that Jesus not only taught us how to live but also gave himself to free us from sin and death. We thank you for this bread and cup, that remind us of that.
As we eat the bread and drink from the cup, fill us also again with your Spirit, that we can truly follow Jesus in giving of ourselves to tell and to show others of your great love for each of us.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
