18-Sep-22(Luke 16:1-13)
The gospel writer reminds us this week that we need to be faithful in the small things to prepare us to be faithful in the larger things. It makes a lot of sense. If we live out the small details of our lives in ways that show God's love for others and this world, when the big tests come, we'll already have set ourselves to think that way.
:Likewise, we come to this table each time -- a small thing really -- but it serves to remind us who Jesus is and how much God loves us. It sets our minds and hearts on the right path so when the big tests come, we'll remember.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who is always faithful, in the big and small things, we thank you that Jesus came to show us how to live a life of faithfulness to you. We thank you for his words and deeds that guide us in faithfulness. We especially thank you that he gave his life in faithful witness to you so that we can come to you now without the fear of our own sin and of death.
Now, as we take these reminders of all Jesus gave for us, fill us again with your Spirit, that we too can live out faithfulness, in big and small ways, so that others could know of your love for them.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
