16-Oct-22 (Luke 18:1-8)
Unlike the unjust judge in the parable for today, God is, as Jesus tells us, ready and more than willing to seek justice for us. We have no greater example of the love of God than what we remember here at this table: God did not withhold even his own son, but sent him to show us the way and bring us life and wholeness. God waits at this table to remind us again.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who loves us, even when we're the most unlovable, we thank you that Jesus came to reveal that love to us and show us how we could live lives of love for you and others. We thank you that he was willing to give even his own life to overcome sin and death for us.
Now, as we take the bread and cup, and remember that love, fill us again with your Holy Spirit and send us out into the world to bear that good news to others. Where people cry out in injustice, let us be as tireless as you; as tireless as the widow in our parable, to seek justice and wholeness for them.
In the name of Jesus, our Risen Lord, Amen.
