Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper B25 – 27-Oct-24
27-Oct-24 (Mark 10:46-52)
"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked in the gospel scripture for today. It's a question he's also asking us. It's not about the things we might want or even need. It's about what Jesus can do in our lives. As we come to the table today, consider the one who would not let even suffering and death stand in the way of what God wanted for us and then think about how we would answer Jesus when he asks, "What do you want me to do for you?"
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who loved us so dearly that nothing could stand in the way of that love, we thank you for Jesus and the good that he's already worked in our lives. We lift up to you in the quiet of our own hearts, those deep wishes we have in the depths of our souls and whisper, "Son of David, have mercy on us."
We thank you for this bread and cup, symbols of your love that even sin and death could not stop. As we take the bread and cup, please also pour out your Spirit on us, that we can bring the Good News of your love to our families, our friends, our neighbors, and our world.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, Amen.
