Table Meditation (Gospel) for Proper 28a – 19-November-23
19-Nov-23 (Matthew 25:14-30)
As we hear the Parable of the Talents, we should think about how we are faithful in the little things that we are given. As we come to the Table, we are reminded that Jesus was faithful in giving it all, that we might have abundant life. So let us, as the writer of Hebrews puts it, "Consider Jesus who endured from hostility from sinners against himself, so that you may not grow weary or faint-hearted." Consider Jesus, who gave it all, and consider ourselves, to re-commit to giving of what we have been given.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God who generously gives all good things, stir our hearts as we remember Jesus. As he was willing to give all of himself for our sake. Let us give of who we are for the sake of bringing your realm into being on earth. As we take this bread and this cup, prepare us to receive your Spirit that we might take the Good News of your love to all we know.
In the name of Jesus, our Christ, AMEN
