Table Meditation (Psalm) for Proper 7a – 25-June-23
25-June-23 (Psalm 69:7-18)
"How long will you hide your face from me?" says the Psalm for today. The answer is, "Not long." We all have those moments, like the king in Hamlet when our "words fly up, but our thoughts remain below"; when God seems far off.
Yet here at this Table, we encounter our Host, the Risen Christ, and know that through Christ's presence, God is never far off. So, as we come to the Table today, consider the God who is closer than our next thought, who greets us here and now.
Let us pray.
Prayer:
God of us all, We thank you that you that you are always present with us, especially during those times when it is most difficult to sense you. As we come into your presence today, pour our your Spirit on us, that we might truly feel you here and in that welcome embrace, let us open our hearts to the others that gather with us. Thank you for these symbols of bread and cup that remind us of how much you are willing to give, that we can be with you.
In Jesus name, AMEN.
