This is a special week in worship at DisciplesNet.  Not only is it the first Sunday in Lent, it is part of the Week of Compassion, a special time of reflecting on the ways that God has blessed us to be able to give to others who are in need. Week of Compassion is a for-good organization that goes to places where disaster and tragedy has struck, and stays, finding ways to be God's hands and heart in the world.

What an honor and a blessing it is this week to have bringing the message for our DisciplesNet family, the Rev. Amy Gopp, the Executive Director of Week of Compassion.  Rev. We invite you to join us for our worship, "Nothing Without Love," with an inspiring message from Rev. Anita Cobb based upon the favorite scripture from 1 Corinthians 13.  This time together includes 30 minutes of prayer, scripture, singing, and listening to the word together with people in times and places all around the world.
As we do every week, our time together includes a time of communion (breaking of the bread) where you may choose to participate, or simply meditate as we tell of Jesus' invitation to "do this in remembrance of me." If you would like to share with us at the table that defies all boundaries of time, place, and structure, then we ask that you prepare a wafer, cracker, or bread and a drink.  As we pray, we are praying that our blessing extends to where you are.  If you are unable to eat or drink, you may want to use a symbolic gesture or mental symbol as you come together at this table of remembrance with us.  (Scroll down for an Order of Worship) Continue reading →

We invite you to join us this Christmas for this week's worship, with a special message of hope from our Senior Pastor, "The Story Continues."  Our worship was especially created with the understanding that while some of our listeners may experience this holiday season as  "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year," as the song goes,  for others, it is the opposite, perhaps a very painful time.  Whether you are one full of joy, sorrow, or a combination this season, this worship is for you.

Our worship features special scripture of prophecy, and includes the Christmas story from the Gospel of Luke, read by our leadership team.  Additionally, we offer inspiring special music by the duo Dean Phelps and Twana Harris, with Christmas favorites we've created for you to sing along with, if you'd like.  Beverly Heid provides the background music for our readings.
Today we also light the fourth advent candle,  If you have one at home, you may like to light yours while you follow along in scripture and music.

Rev. Dr. Audrey Borschel brings an inspiring  message about prophets then and prophets now for our third Sunday in Advent. This is the SUnday when we light the advent candle of joy, leading up in anticipation to the birth of the Christ child.
If you have an advent candle, you may like to light yours as we light ours during worship.   Our worship is rich with music and opportunities to sing along.
We also have a special prayer in response to the terrible injury and loss of life of children in China and Connecticut as we were preparing our worship video.
