When we hear the story of the man with two sons, we often think about the "prodigal son" and the father. We don't often think about the older son. Pastor Amy speaks to us from Luke 15:1-3 and 11b-32 to help us realize how God's love can speak to those of us who have "been in the household" of faith for a long time and might be jealous of the newer folks.

When Jesus decided to go to Jerusalem, he knew very much what to expect, so when some of the Pharisees came to him to warn him that Herod wanted to kill him, he not only faced the likelihood, but even told them to tell Herod when to expect him.
This was not bravado. It was a deliberate choice on Jesus' part to confront the powers of his day.
